I recently got back from a trip to Walt Disney World… my first visit since 2013! What I was most excited to experience was the new updates to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! MNSSHP is my and my family’s favorite event to attend on Disney property. It’s fun, family friendly and really gets you ready for the Halloween season. Today, I will be talking about my experiences (with a peanut allergy) at this year’s wonderful party and why you should go, too!

The party officially starts at 7pm, but your party ticket allows you to enter the park starting at 4pm, so you do not have to add on an actual Magic Kingdom Park ticket if you are just wanting to go to MNSSHP. Also, I’d say arriving at 4pm gives you a lot of time to hit your favorite attractions before enjoying the Halloween festivities. (Plus, you can begin trick or treating as soon as you get to the park!) When we first arrived, we got our party bracelets on (these show Cast Members we have admission to the event), and then we were escorted to a photo op and the first trick or treat stop.

If you have a food allergy, when you get to the first trick or treat stop (or any trick or treat location), tell a Cast Member giving out the candy that you or a family member has an allergy. They will give you a teal trick or treat bag (teal is the official color for food allergy awareness) and place teal tokens into your bag instead of candy. The tokens are redeemable for allergy safe candy which you can exchange anytime during the party. Every treat stop has tokens so you can trick or treat like everyone else. You can pick up your treats in Liberty Square or Main Street, U.S.A; just ask a Cast Member where to go.
When I went MNSSHP three years ago, the allergy system was not as organized. You were told to go to Main Street, U.S.A and ask for a pre-made allergy treat bag that they would give you, but by the time I arrived they had run out of them. The new system was a lot easier. Overall, since the last time I visited WDW, anything that has to do with my allergy has gotten a lot simpler. The only time I had a less than stellar experience dealing with my food allergy was actually the night of the party, at Storybook Treats. It had nothing to do with Disney’s way of dealing with it, just one Cast Member who was uninformed and not trained properly.
If you are looking for some MNSSHP merchandise, the prime location for that is at Big Top Souvenirs. They have all of the party’s themed pins and t-shirts available there and some special things for annual passholders, too. Some other stores throughout the park also have merch available, but not as much as Big Top.

The best part of MNSSHP by far is the entertainment. Boo-to-You Halloween Parade and Happy HalloWishes Fireworks Show are classic favorites for any annual party-goers. They make you ridiculously happy and never seem to dissapoint. But starting last year, Disney added a new show… Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular Show!!! I could not have been more excited to see this show, I had been anticipating it since it was first announced! I couldn’t believe I was finally seeing it this year! It’s safe to say it was the best show I’ve ever seen at WDW. The music, the dancers, The Sanderson Sisters… everything was perfect, and if you’re a fan of Hocus Pocus, you’ll without a doubt enjoy this performance.
Other things available at the party are: special character Meet and Greets, MNSSHP-themed treats and merch, the Scream-o-Ween Dance Party, entertainment from the Cadaver Dans, photo opportunities, and more! Keep your eyes peeled for some surprises!

Overall, I had a fantastic time at MNNSHP this year and I cant wait to go back again! I’m really happy they added those great options for people with food allergies. This party never gets old for me. I hope that you will have a chance to attend soon!
